Former PSL referee Victor Hlungwani reckons that Orlando Pirates were denied a legitimate penalty in two successive moments against Marumo Gallants.
The Buccaneers had taken the lead through Patrick Maswangwanyi before Daniel Msendami equalized but substitute Jaisen Clifford came off the bench to net an added time winner as Pirates succumbed to their second successive league defeat.
It was however the visitors being denied what seemed like a legitimate penalty that caught the headlines with Hlungwani criticizing the referee for not being brave enough to give Pirates a spot kick.
“There’s handball and there’s also tripping,” ‘The Principal’ said on Soccerzone.
“If the ball makes contact with the hand in that position, a penalty offence has been committed.
“There’s another offence which is tripping at the same time, so there’s two offences committed – handball and tripping for [Oswin] Appollis which was not penalised.

“So, incorrect decision by the referee not to penalise for penalty because two offences all of them results in a penalty.”
