SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt praised the signing and reunion of former Orlando Pirates winger Vincent Pule.
Pule, 32, signed a one-year deal with Matsatsantsa, with an option to extend, thus reuniting with Hunt having previously worked together during their Bidvest Wits days at Sturrock Park, winning the club’s first ever league title and the Telkom Knockout Cup.
Hunt is known for being loyal to his former players, and it was not a different case with Pule, who he quickly snapped upon his exit from Pirates due to lack of game-time hindered by injuries.
The SSU coach described Pule’s excitement like a kid in a China shop, and mentioned that he will be helpful as he can play in multiple positions ahead of the new season.
“He is like a kid in the China shop at the moment, I said to him ‘slow down’,” Hunt told Robert Marawa on 974FM.
“I signed him from African Warriors at Wits and he scored a goal in the Telkom Cup final, played a huge part when we won the league and top eight games. Then obviously he got transferred to Pirates, he had a good seven/eight good years there.
“To get him back now still the same in terms of athleticism he can still run, he’s got good legs, pace, good delivery on the ball, strikes the ball well, can play multiple positions which is important for us.”
During his stay at Pirates, Pule also won two MTN8 trophies, featuring in close to 150 matches, scoring 23 goals and providing a further 12 assists.
