Stellenbosch FC head coach Gavin Hunt has expressed immense delight after putting pen to paper on a new contract for the next two seasons.
The astute tactician took charge of the Cape Winelands outfit in December 2025 following the shock exit of Steve Barker to Simba SC in Tanzania.

With the club in dire situation at the time, Hunt came in to steady the ship as they finished in ninth spot, just two points out of the top eight bracket, at the end of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.
On Tuesday, Stellies announced that the four-time PSL winning coach will remain at the helm, with the 61-year-old taking time to thank the club.
“I’m very excited about the project we’re building at Stellenbosch FC,” Hunt said on the Stellies website.
“This is a fantastic club with fantastic facilities and is very professionally run.
“The staff, whom I inherited on my arrival, have been very welcoming and supportive towards me, and we share a fresh and positive outlook for the future.
“You can never forget what has happened in the past, where the club was very successful under the previous coaching regime, and we want to get back up to that place where we can be competitive again.
“It’s not going to be easy, and it’s not going to happen overnight, but we have a chance to rebuild the team, and I’m happy to have been entrusted with that responsibility.”
