Hunt Reveals Factor They Banking On To Beat Pirates

Stellenbosch FC head coach Gavin Hunt hopes the weather plays a role this evening as they lock horns with title challengers Orlando Pirates.

It’s been a rainy and cold weather down in Cape Town in the past few days, and Stellies understands that this weather could help them a lot when they face the Buccaneers. The Cape Winelands side aims to bounce back after suffering a late 1-0 defeat against Polokwane City 10 days ago.

The defeat saw Stellies missing an opportunity to get closer to the top eight spot as they remained in 10th place just three points behind eighth-placed Lamontville Golden Arrows.

Ahead of the big clash against Pirates, Hunt hoped that the weather works in their favour as he always feels like Gauteng teams struggle with Cape Town weather.

“The weather does affect our approach, because obviously it’s a very different game playing in the rain,” Hunt told Stellenbosch FC media.

“The pitch is much heavier and slower, which will hopefully suit us more, because they are one of the best sides in the country in terms of the speed with which they play.

“They create many more chances than other teams in the league, and that’s something we certainly need to be aware of, but it does change a lot in terms of how you approach the game.

“Regardless, though, we have to try to keep the game alive as long as possible and get better as the game wears on, and any result here would be a good outcome for us.”
