Hunt Shares Honest Take On Working At Stellies

Gavin Hunt has offered a candid reflection on his time as head coach of Stellenbosch FC since taking over in December, replacing Steve Barker, who left to join Simba SC.

Hunt began the campaign with Durban City, guiding the newly promoted side to an impressive start before departing in early December.

Since arriving at Stellenbosch, he has overseen 14 matches, recording five wins, five draws and four defeats. Notably, the team remains unbeaten in the league, with losses only coming in CAF Confederation Cup [three] and Nedbank Cup [one].

While describing the club as a “fantastic” environment, Hunt stressed the importance of being given sufficient time to build and shape the time.

“Well, the most important thing in any football club is if they give you an opportunity to work, coach and build teams,” said Hunt.

“If you get that opportunity, you’ll be successful. But you don’t so much time at football clubs.

“But I think it’s important that we get to the end of May and then we can really look at the situation and I think there’s a lot I think it needs to be done.

“This is a club where you can work, and it’s really good to work, it’s fantastic.”
