Indian Super League side Punjab have joined the race to sign former Kaizer Chiefs and Stellenbosch FC midfielder Darrel Matsheke.
This publication reported few weeks ago that Chippa United were close to getting Matsheke after his exit from Stellenbosch.
Matsheke spent just over five months at the Cape Winelands side and won Carling Knockout Cup but left over some disciplinary issues.
With Chilli Boys yet to seal the deal, Indian Super League side Punjab are also keeping an eye on the midfielder as they look to boast their squad.
Former Bidvest Wits winger Sameegh Doutie and Cole Alexander remain the only South Africans to have played in the Indian Super League so far.
Punjab are currently sitting eighth on the log with 21 points after 19 matches. They have the third-highest number of losses in the league with nine after gaining promotion to the topflight in 2022/23.
