Jele Reveals Chiefs Wish

Former Orlando Pirates defender Happy Jele says his wishes to see Kaizer Chiefs do well as it makes the league competitive.

Mamelodi Sundowns have dominated the domestic scene in recent seasons and completed an unprecedented record seven league titles in a row, while Pirates have emerged as the domestic cup kings.

The two sides are also in the group stage of the CAF Champions League while Amakhosi have endured a dry spell for almost a decade.

Jele spoke to iDiski Times writer Lethabo Kganyago in edition 183 of the newspaper where he noted the evolution of the league and teams that are coming up. The Pirates legend added that he is pleased to see Chiefs doing better saying it is better for competition.

“It’s a good thing,” Jele told iDiski Times.

“For me, I want all the big teams to perform. I wish they can perform well so that there will be more competition and it’s no longer two teams that compete. But because football evolves there are a lot of teams even if you look at Stellies, SuperSport, Sekhukhune and Magesi now they make the game so interesting.

“So, I wish Kaizer Chiefs can come back and do well because it hasn’t been nice with Chiefs people always grumpy and angry at us like we are the problem, when we have our own problems at Pirates (laughs).”
