Kaze Explains Cele & Sirino Recalls

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze says Thabo Cele and Gaston Sirino contributed well in their goalless draw against Polokwane City at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

Cele started in place of Siphesihle Ndlovu who didn’t make the match day squad, his first start since last year November, and only his second appearance since the Soweto Derby in February.

He missed several matches after the derby, returning as an unused sub in the 2-0 win over TS Galaxy last week. The 29-year-old then came on as a sub in the side’s big win over Magesi FC in mid-week and played a full game against Rise and Shine Saturday.

Meanwhile Sirino last played in the home game against Dikwena tṧa meetse last month and played just under 30 minutes as second half substitute in Polokwane.

“They are players that have a lot of potential and as well, there is a big squad,” said Kaze when asked about the two players.

“And I feel as well that they contributed today very well to the game and the competition is good between the players and everyone is working really hard to get his chance.”

The coach also emphasised that Ndlovu, who was one booking away from a suspension, not making the squad had nothing to do with him thinking about the upcoming Soweto derby.

“No, no, it was just tactical decisions because we believe that on this game, regarding the opponent that we were going to play, Cele was better suited for this game,” Kaze concluded.
