Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze has reiterated that head coach Nasreddine Nabi plays an important role in the club’s preparations despite being away from the team at the moment.
Nabi had to rush to his home country last week after his wife was understood to be in a serious car accident.
He has been absent for Chiefs’ first two games of the season, the 2-0 win at Stellenbosch FC and the 1-0 at home against Polokwane City.
However, Kaze has insisted Nabi still plays a crucial role in the club’s preparations for the games, while trusting the rest of his technical team.
“We are always in contact with the head coach but he trusts our experience, he trusts our knowledge,” he said after the win over Rise & Shine.
“Because we are the people that are on the field every day and the people on the field are those that feel the vibe, they see every day what’s happening, they see the training, who can do what, who can do the different combinations.
“He trusts us to do the line-ups as well, but as head coach he is informed on a daily basis.”
When asked whether Nabi’s influence actually has a positive effect on results, Kaze brushed off that notion immediately.
“Let’s just say that the technical staff is led by coach Nabi, it doesn’t matter who is on the line,” he added.
“The thing that I’ll just say is that Kaizer Chiefs is winning and that’s the most important thing.”
Chiefs, who moved into second place on the log, only return to action next week Tuesday, when they will face Richards Bay – a side that started 2025/26 with two losses.
