Kaizer Chiefs coach Cedric Kaze has outlined what the club hopes to promise supporters after returning to winning ways.
Amakhosi ended a run of four straight defeats with a 1–0 victory over Durban City on Sunday at FNB Stadium.
The result came amid mounting pressure on the technical team, with Kaze and assistant Khalil Ben Youssef facing criticism from supporters frustrated by the team’s recent performances.
Last week, a group of Chiefs fans marched to the club’s headquarters in Naturena to protest and voice their concerns.
Some supporters had even proposed boycotting matches ahead of the clash against the Citizens as calls for changes and improved performances intensified.
Kaze thanked the fans who attended Sunday’s match against the KwaZulu-Natal side, promising that the Phefeni Glamour Boys will continue working hard every day to improve the team in the remaining league fixtures.
“I’d like to thank the supporters that showed up today, it was not easy but they showed that they are behind the team even in difficult situations,” said Kaze.
“And those are fans we have and we believe that even those that were watching on TV and couldn’t be here, we have wonderful fans.
“What we can promise them is just to work hard everyday to improve the team, to try in every game to get positive performance.
“I’ll say I understand the frustrations, my message to them is we’re not sleeping, we know the frustrations, we know that they deserve better and they want better things.
“The best way to support the team and show that you want better, even in these difficult times, try come to the stadium and support the team.
“We know that when they are behind us, they will be the 12th man and we gonna feel more energy with them.”
