Mamelodi Sundowns defender Grant Kekana says the team is not overly concerned by their recent struggles when defending set-pieces.

The Brazilians have conceded five goals in their opening three matches of the season, with three coming in the Betway Premiership and two in the MTN8. Set-pieces have been a major factor in their defensive lapses.

Kekana admits the team does not enjoy conceding goals but believes they have been somewhat unfortunate, while lapses in concentration may also have played a role.

The defender says Sundowns are working on improving their set-piece defending and are confident they will tighten up in the matches ahead.

“Obviously, we don’t like conceding as defenders. Set-pieces should be something that we enjoy defending. We’ve just been unfortunate this season,” said Kekana.

“Maybe a lapse of concentration here and there, but it’s something that we’re still working on now.

“We obviously want to get better, but I don’t think it’s something that’s making us panic in any way. It’s just about us improving how we deal with set-pieces.”

Sundowns will face Marumo Gallants in a league outing on Wednesday night at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, with kick-off set for 19:30.
