Khanye Gives Damning Bvuma Verdict, Makes Zwane Plea

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has questioned whether Bruce Bvuma is good enough for a club of Chiefs caliber and pleaded for midfielder Samkelo Zwane to be given more game-time.

Bvuma has made the number one spot his own after both Brandon Petersen and Itumeleng Khune were given chances earlier in the campaign.

However, Bvuma has been between the sticks since game week 13, keeping eight clean sheets in 17 appearances for the club

However, Khanye has questioned Bvuma’s credentials after the 1-1 draw with AmaZulu.

“Bruce Bvuma has been playing for Kaizer Chiefs for too long but he is not improving,” he said on iDiski TV.

“He has been called up to the national team many times before, yet he is not getting better.

“Amazulu scored a goal from a clear offside but Bruce Bvuma should have done better. The ball was kicked toward his six yard area and he did not come out to punch the ball.

“Bvuma is not Kaizer Chiefs material.”

The youngster has fallen behind his peers at the club in terms of game time only featuring in eight matches in all competitions this season, seven in the league and one in the cup. Last term he played 12 league matches and three in the Nedbank cup. Amakhosi sit in eighth place on the DStv Premiership log equal on 35 points with Polokwane City behind them with only two matches left to go. Khanye says the 22 year old deserves a shot in those matches.

Meanwhile, Khanye pleaded with Johnson to give the young Zwane more game-time in the remaining two games.

The youngster has fallen behind his peers at the club in terms of minutes, only featuring in eight matches in all competitions this season.

“What I’m asking for from the coach is to give this boy Zwane a chance,” Khanye continued.

“Can he give him a chance, the games are almost finishing. I’m pleading with him in these two games to give this boy a chance.

“He [Zwane] must get a chance so that someone like [Mfundo] Vilakazi can get the ball because he isn’t getting any balls from the current midfielders.
