Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye is of the opinion that Mamelodi Sundowns will win this season’s Betway Premiership by 10 points, despite Orlando Pirates leading the log with a 100% record so far.
Pirates have finished behind Sundowns twice in the last two seasons with most believing they are the club that can put up a real challenge against Sundowns for league honours.

Last season, Manqoba Mngqithi’s charges lost just one game in the league clinching the title by a 23-point margin. This season, they have already lost one game while Pirates have collected the full 21 points on offer.
The former Kaizer Chiefs winger believes factors like mental strength, quality of players is going to be decisive too in the race while adding that Pirates are going to drop points.
“For me the upper hand I give to Manqoba because he has experienced players and also because those players don’t want to lose,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.
“Home and away Pirates is going to lose against Sundowns. I know there will be other games but that’s where I’m starting it. The mind-set will also play a big role.
“The experience of playing the Champions League for a couple of years, winning the league and the quality of players is also going to play a big role. Also, there is competition in each position at Sundowns.
“Yes, I’m backing Sundowns and they won’t win by three points, the difference will maybe be 10 points. Write this down, Pirates are going to drop.
“The second round will surprise you and they must still face each other. Even if one of the games ends in a draw, Sundowns will have an upper hand.
“Pirates won’t defeat Sundowns twice. It’s going to be difficult for Orlando Pirates and I’m sorry pound-for-pound they won’t match Sundowns’ individual brilliance and experience.
“Sundowns will win this league with a 10 points difference.”
