Khanye – What Lorch Needs To Improve On At Downs

Former Kaizer winger Junior Khanye says Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch needs learn to be teachable in order to understand the Mamelodi Sundowns way of playing, for his own improvement.

Khanye was triggered by Lorch’s performance in Sundowns’ 1-0 DStv Premiership win against Royal AM on Saturday.

The iDiski TV analyst admits the former Orlando Pirates man is a good player, however he must draw lessons to be a team player from players like Sipho Mbule.

“Lorch is a good player individually and I think he needs to understand how Sundowns plays, that they hardly go wide,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.

“If they are playing on the left they start their move from inside and then they go outside because maybe someone is joining. They don’t stand on the line.

“So Lorch needs to learn that. He has a bit of arrogance and not to say he is a bad person but that thing to say I’ve achieved things before.

“Take nothing away from him because he has won things individually but at Sundowns, you can’t play, if you are not coachable.

“There are many superstars there, like [Sipho] Mbule who used to dribble opponents but now he plays one, two touches. He can be a team player and he can be himself as well.

“I don’t think the combination between Lorch and [Peter] Shalulile is working and the one between Shalulile and [Lucas] Ribeiro. I don’t know if the problem is Ribeiro and Lorch or Shalulile because it was very difficult to see the Sundowns front three in the first half against Royal AM.”
