Khune Shocked By Khuzwayo ‘Attack’

Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has reacted with shock by claims from former teammate Brilliant Khuzwayo that the former got favours from coaches during their time together at the club.

The two competed for the number one jersey at Chiefs between 2012 and 2018 with Khuzwayo playing second fiddle to Khune who was also a regular for Bafana Bafana.

The 35-year-old, who made less than 30 appearances for Amakhosi, caught many by surprise with recent comments in the media interviews saying he felt that Khune was a fan favourite and there were some injustices in selection.

‘Spiderkid’ spoke to iDiski Times writer Lethabo Kganyago in edition 200 about the calibre of goalkeeper Chiefs needs at the moment with the 37-year-old saying he believes Amakhosi need a reliable goalie who plays with heart like he used to, going on to say he was puzzled by Khuzwayo’s claims.

“I saw Brilliant Khuzwayo coming out to attack me, saying other coaches did favours for me,” Khune told iDiski Times.

“But I don’t understand where he takes that from because we used to train together. We used to compete, and we used to have healthy competition. And if you had to go compare, you will see that he stood no chance of playing when I was fit because of what I did on the field whether at training, whether at Chiefs or Bafana Bafana.

“It’s his own opinion. I respect it.”
