Steve Komphela has spoken for the first time about his current situation at Moroka Swallows.
Komphela, who was appointed head coach at Swallows at the start of the season, has not been at a training session in 2024, after last being with the team in December prior to their two cancelled DStv Premiership fixtures.
There had been reports that the former Bafana Bafana captain had been denied entry into training, but Komphela dismissed those rumours, stating he hasn’t been at the club at all.
Komphela was a guest on Game On with Thabiso Mosia on Radio 2000, and explained the situation.
“I haven’t been denied entry, I am still waiting for our front office to communicate intentions,” Komphela told Thabiso Mosia.
“Because, as I said on the 22nd of December just before we played Mamelodi Sundowns and on the 30th December when we were supposed to play Golden Arrows, both matches got cancelled and the season was ended.
“And then further on a message was sent to say the preseason should not start until further notice. And that further notice has not come. I haven’t been to Moroka Swaloows with respect.

“And I have not been at the training facilities so I don’t know the story that I was not allowed in, or where does it come from? I’m still waiting.
“Anyway, the season starts next week. Maybe there will be a change for us to find sanity and find a way forward. But as if I’m just looking at the pitch and watching the movie unfold.”
