Komphela Lands New PSL Club

Former Moroka Swallows coach Steve Komphela is set to return to the touchline after taking charge of Lamontville Golden Arrows on Thursday.

Komphela returns to Arrows for a second spell after a first reign between December 2018 and October 2020.

He left Moroka Swallows in the beginning of the year amid their financial turmoils, which was a blow to the new rebirth idea the club sold Komphela and many others in the beginning of the season.

They raced to fifth place after nine games under the former Kaizer Chiefs coach who had left his role at Mamelodi Sundowns to link up with Swallows, boosted by signings like Tshegofatso Mabasa and Andile Jali but it ended in heartbreak.

Meanwhile, Arrows have hit an 11-match losing streak under Mabhuti Khenyeza which has seen them drop from third to 12th place on the log after collecting 20 points in their first 10 matches but only the walkover against Swallows since.

Sources close to Abafana Bes’thende have told iDiski Times that Komphela took charge of Arrows at training on Thursday morning and was introduced as the club’s new head coach, as first reported by SABC Sport.

Meanwhile, Khenyeza and Musa Bilankulu will be working as his assistant coaches.

Arrows’ next game is at Polokwane City on Sunday at 15:30.
