Kaizer Chiefs defender Zitha Kwinika has explained why they didn’t qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinals.
Amakhosi failed to progress from the group stages, with two Egyptian clubs — Zamalek and Al Masry — advancing to the next round.
Kwinika says conceding too many goals in the group stages was the main factor behind their failure to qualify for the quarterfinals.
The centre-back believes they have learned their lessons and will improve as time goes on.
“I think mainly on that, whatever you’re asking now, it’s a conversation we had in terms of saying, boys how did we maybe not qualify for the CAF [quarterfinals]?,” said Kwinika.
“It was a matter of goals, conceding goals. So, that on its own was the defining factor of everything else in that.
“So, I think now going forward, everyone is aware what impact it does probably at the later stage.
“So, I think from that, we learned our lesson, we paid our school fees, cash and we’ll get better from that.”
Chiefs are fighting to go back to competing in the continental competitions and currently fourth in the league standings with 30 points after 15 matches so far.
