Baroka FC defender Tebogo Langerman believes that Sekhukhune United and TS Galaxy are this season’s dark horses and have capacity to challenge perennial league winners Mamelodi Sundowns for the league title.
Sekhukhune have a enjoyed an impressive start to the 2025/26 term sitting in second position on the log with 20 points from nine outings and just a point behind log leaders Sundowns who have played 10 games. The Rockets however had a bumpy start influenced by the non-registration of players owing to several FIFA bans. However, they have fought up to seventh place on the standings with 13 points in eight games.

Langerman spoke to iDiski Times journalist Lethabo Kganyago in edition 225 of the newspaper where he said the two sides need some consistency to solidify their chase.
“Yes, and I see Sekhukhune [United], I see TS Galaxy, I’m not too sure about [Orlando] Pirates,” Langerman told iDiski Times.
“But you see, TS Galaxy and Sekhukhune, I think they will challenge in the league this season if they are consistent. If you check, TS Galaxy is coming up slowly, and no one is watching them.”
When asked if he sees his former side replicating the dominance his generation set, the 39-year-old said he doesn’t think so with challenges the side has so far endured, and it is reflecting on the pitch as they haven’t been convincing.
“I don’t see it now because now obvious they’ve got problems you can see,” added Langerman.
“Team performance is not the same. It was promising when Rulani [Mokwena] was the coach, and I think even when Manqoba [Mngqithi] was there. But now I don’t know what’s happening there, it’s no longer the same. Unless they can fix things quickly, but we all can see Sundowns is not really convincing.”
