Romanian champions FCSB have dropped interest in Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa, iDiski Times has been told.
Mabasa, 27, has been in immense form since returning to Pirates from Swallows where he spent six months on loan and scored six goals despite all the off the field issues.
A few weeks ago, it was reported that Siyabonga Ngezana’s FCSB have made a list of strikers they are looking at and Mabasa’s name was included.
The former Bloemfontein Celtic striker is currently sitting on 16 goals in all competitions, and he is in contention for the DStv Premiership golden boot.
The 1985/86 UEFA Champions League winners are already preparing for the future, as they could lose their striker Florinel Coman who has carried the team throughout the season, netting 19 goals and collecting 11 assists in all competitions.
According to information received by this publication, FCSB made a list of 12 players they were looking at, including Mabasa. However, a close source to the club confirmed that the number has been cut down and Mabasa’s name is no longer on the list.
FCSB want to strengthen their team for the upcoming season, as they will be taking part in the UEFA Champions League first qualifying round after ending their nine-year trophy drought in the league.
