Learning From Former Coaches- Khenyeza

Golden Arrows coach Mabhuti Khenyeza says he has been inspired by different coaches throughout his playing and coaching career and has stolen a little bit from them to help his own journey.

Khenyeza became the head coach of the Kwa Zulu Natal based side after his former co-coach Vusimusi Vilakazi left the club for Chippa United. Arrows are currently second on the DStv Premiership log with 17 points from eight matches while they have also progressed to the last eight round of the Carling Knockout Cup.

The former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi striker spoke to IDiski Times Senior Writer Velile Mnyandu in the current edition of the newspaper where he revealed the things he has “stolen” from some of his former mentors.

“I ‘stole’ from Muhsin, Stoichkov & Zondo I think all of them, all of them” Khenyeza told IDiski Times.

“They have different abilities of coaching but I was stealing a lot of things, even those that are not here. I played under Khabo, I played under Muhsin, I played under coach Stoichkov – there are a lot. So I was stealing a lot of things, stealing tactics from some, stealing management skills from some, and all of those things. You steal the winning mentality and all of those things from some”

“There were a lot of things, but each and every one that coached me I’ve stolen something from them and I try by all means to balance whatever I’m doing now”
