Maart – What Du Preez Told Me Ahead Of AmaZulu

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Yusuf Maart has revealed what his teammate Ashley Du Preez told him ahead of Friday’s trip to AmaZulu.

Maart, 27, has become a permanent feature in Arthur Zwane’s line-up, having started 14 of his side’s 15 DStv Premiership games this season so far.

Chiefs returned to playing after the 2022 FIFA World Cup with a 2-0 win at Golden Arrows but lost their home match 1-0 against Sekhukhune United, who spoilt the club’s 53rd birthday celebration.

The Amakhosi will want to get back to winning ways on Friday when they will face AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, with Maart revealing striker Du Preez is confident of a win.

“I said that to Ashley (Du Preez),” Maart said when being reminded that Chiefs and Usuthu will face each other for a fourth time this campaign.

“But he told me not to worry, he is positive. When we go there, we’ll win for sure.”

Both previous clashes with Usuthu this season ended in a draw, with both sides failing to win any of their last five head-to-head games.

However, Maart is keen to change that and put the wrongs from the Sekhukhune match right on Friday.

“We worked very hard during the December break and it showed in our first two games back,” Maart added.

“Unfortunately, it didn’t go our way in the last game, but we are very keen to put that right against AmaZulu.”
