Magesi Football Club Public Relations Officer Abel Rakoma has confirmed that John Maduka has been placed on recess, and the club is currently assessing his performance in the first half of the season.
Maduka was suspended by the club and missed the clash against Orlando Pirates which they lost and was absent for the Nedbank Cup clash against Upington City.
Alan Freese has been named as leading candidate to replace Maduka, but the club’s PRO insisted they are still assessing the coach’s performance and will hopefully conclude the process by the end of this week.
“The club has decided to place John Maduka on recess, primarily because of his performance contract, he’s actually being assessed,” he stated on Wednesday.
“We realize that where we are sitting as a team, we’re at the bottom of the league log and he started the season with us, it’s not midway through the season, so it’s important to assess the performance.
“The club has decided we may not be able to assess his performance with our undivided attention, so we placed him on recess so that we can be able to assess his performance properly.
“We’re supposed to be on position number 10, not below 10. That’s what we agreed.
“Before the end of the week we will be able to make a determination, a thorough assessment of his performance.”
Rakoma also insisted they will not engage with potential Maduka replacement before finalizing the process of his assessment.
“That discussion will never ensue before we finalize the issue of the performance contract of coach John,” he added.
“We must not actually be divided in terms of attention. Let’s focus on this first matter first and then we can be able to go to the next one.
“Speculation is always there, but we’re not in that space.”
Magesi sit in 16th place in the Betway Premiership with just 11 points from 15 games. However, they do have two games in hand over ORBIT College who sit three points ahead of them.
Dikwena tša Meetse return to action on Friday when they will face Golden Arrows.
