Makhanya – These 3 Youngsters Are Pirates’ Treble

Orlando Pirates reserve team coach Joseph Makhanya has described the promotion of Relebohile Mofokeng, Mohau Nkota and Mbekezeli Mbokazi as a treble win for the senior team.

Makhanya is in his third season with Pirates after taking over from Mandla Qhogi with the Buccaneers yet to win the DStv Diski Challenge trophy.

In his first season, Pirates came second in the league just behind SuperSport United, the following season they came third just behind Stellenbosch FC and Mamelodi Sundowns and currently sit seventh in the reserve league.

Despite not winning the DDC league title, Duku-Duku believes that the promotion of Relebohile Mofokeng, Mohau Nkota and Mbekezeli Mbokazi are trophies as well and he has already won a treble this season just by seeing them playing senior football.

He stated that winning the actual DDC trophy would mean there’s a next crop of players that are ready to be promoted to the senior side.

“Because we trying to build winners, so it starts with winning matches, they need to win matches,” Makhanya told iDiski Times.

“So, we’ve got two trophies, Rele is a trophy, Nkota and then Mbokazi is trophy number three.

“The treble is won already this season, and we are hoping that the actual trophy maybe can also come because if it does come, it means there’s readiness.

“So, it means it won’t be three, it can be eight players that are promoted because that’s what we are trying to do.”
