Manqoba Sets Record Straight On Chiefs Rumours

Former Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has set the record straight on rumours he had an offer from Kaizer Chiefs.

Before the appointment of Nasreddine Nabi at Chiefs, Mngqithi was hevely linked with a move to Amakhosi as his contract with Sundowns was coming to an end. 

Rumors, tough, died down when Chiefs appointed Nabi as their head coach from ASFAR Rabat in Morocco, while Mngqithi took charge at Sundowns after Rulani Mokwena’s exit at the club. 

The form Lamontville Golden Arrows mentor has now opened up on the situation, stating that there was never any approach from Chiefs and there were no discussions. 

“There was never any discussions with Kaizer Chiefs before,” he told Robert Marawa on Radio 947.

“And I hear people saying that I did not want to take the job, there ways never anything that came.

“It was always rumors that never led to anything. There was never any formal approach.”
