Martin – What I Told Ref After Chiefs Game

Pablo Franco Martin has said what he said to the referee after AmaZulu’s 1-1 draw with Kaizer Chiefs in the DStv Premiership on Sunday evening.

Victor Letsoalo cancelled out Ashley Du Preez’s early goal, and the AmaZulu bench weren’t happy at one point because they thought they had a late penalty.

Speaking after the game on SuperSport, Martin was asked about the conversation he had with the referee.

“No, because I was asking him about the handball at the end of the game,” Martin said.

“From our side, it looks like a clear penalty. And he’s telling me that the position of the arms are natural.

“And he’s like walking like normal. And then I say like, ‘If you walk like this (gesticulating wildly), then it’s a normal position,’ you know, but anyway, things that happen here often.

“At least, he was communicative, he wanted to speak and we laugh from there.

“There are human mistakes in football from all the sides – from the referees, from the coaches, from the players. And when you respect each other, even if it’s an emotional game and we are all with a lot of heartbeats, I think this is part of the game and in the end we shake hands, we laugh, we hug each other and end up so.”
