Mashego Discusses Future as Loan Nears End

Durban City defender Terrence Mashego, on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns, has opened up about his future as his loan spell nears its end.

The left-back joined the KwaZulu-Natal outfit at the start of the season on a season-long deal in search of regular game time after struggling for minutes at Sundowns.

He has since featured prominently, making 21 appearances across all competitions, including the Betway Premiership, Carling Knockout Cup and Nedbank Cup.

Mashego says he would welcome the chance to return to Durban City, having enjoyed his time at the club.

“If granted the opportunity, I would still come back,” said Mashego.

“Because Durban City is a good team. There are also good players, good human beings. The management and everything as well.

“I’m actually enjoying my time now. With the last two months left, I just want to make sure that I make the best out of it.”

He added that joining Durban City has been a good move, with the team enjoying a strong run in both the league and the Nedbank Cup.

“It was very important, as a player, you need game-time. So moving to Durban City, I saw it as an opportunity to get game-time,” he added.

“So I said, it will work for me and actually, it has worked because now, we’re actually playing the [Nedbank Cup] semi-final.

“With Durban City even on the log, we’re in a good position. So, it was a good move.”
