Maswanganyi – What ‘Weh Tito’ Chant Means To Me

Orlando Pirates star Patrick Maswanganyi has opened up what the ‘weh Tito’ chant from the Buccaneers faithful means to him.

The 26-year-old has been one of the key players under Jose Riveiro, and his game mixed with flair and showboating has also inspired more fans of the Sea Robbers to flock to the stadiums again.

When Maswanganyi gets the fans going, the chant ‘weh Tito’ is often ringing around the stadium, and the Pirates man has now discussed his feels when he hears it for the first time.

“The chant that says ‘Weh Tito’, I think I heard it for the first time last season in Durban,” he said on the club’s documentary Bucs camp.

“I think when they start chanting it, most of the time indicates that they want me to start playing. They want to see the real Tito.

“They either start sing after I do something and want more, it’s the same after I score, and I just feel like when they start singing that chant they mean ‘Go harder’, ‘Show us more energy’.”

Pirates are only back in action on 1 April when they will face MC Alger away from home in the first leg of their CAF Champions League quarter-final.
