Mdunyelwa On Test Against Spirited Durban City

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Zuko Mdunyelwa has opened up on the challenge that awaits them as they prepare to take on an in-form Durban City side, fresh from booking their place in the Nedbank Cup final.

The Brazilians arrived in Durban on Monday, determined to extend their impressive run in the Betway Premiership after securing nine straight victories.

Their clash against The Citizens is set for Tuesday evening at Chatsworth Stadium, with kickoff at 19:30.

Mdunyelwa acknowledged that Sundowns will be up against a confident and highly motivated team, noting that Durban City are in a positive frame of mind after their recent success and have a clear understanding of their own strengths.

“In their camp, in the Durban City camp, definitely the mood is very high because they are in the final,” said Mdunyelwa.

“They know their strengths; they know their capabilities. For us, it is also very important to understand that it’s an away game and we need the three points to keep going. We have the momentum; we just have to keep going.”

Speaking about the upcoming CAF Champions League fixture against Esperance this weekend, Mdunyelwa emphasized that their immediate focus remains on the Durban City clash, insisting they will only shift their attention to the continental tie once Tuesday’s match is out of the way.

“We as players, we just want to take it one game at a time. So, our main focus now is Durban City,” he added.

“We haven’t even touched the trip to Tunisia, so our main focus is Durban City.”
