Middendorp Not Amused By Mpisane Situation

Cape Town Spurs coach Ernst Middendorp has lambasted Royal AM after coach John Maduka gave chairman Andile Mpisane his first start in the match against AmaZulu.

Mpisane made his first start in the DStv Premiership, but was subbed at half-time in the 3-0 loss, which raised a lot of questions and eyebrows.

The young chairman has played most of his games in the DStv Diski Challenge, but he is yet to find the back of the net.

A few weeks ago, Spurs managed to get a point against Usuthu in a 1-1 draw at Moses Mabhida Stadium, but Middendorp wasn’t impressed with what’s going on at Royal AM, saying it brings the league disrepute.

“It’s embarrassing for coaching what I have seen, AmaZulu playing against Royal AM it’s embarrassing,” Middendorp told the media.

“I think we can expect Bobby [Motaung] in the game because he deserved it, he is so fit, he can even play for Kaizer Chiefs for 45 minutes.

“Guys, I feel really embarrassed myself as a coach and then you sit there and say because he was so fit, because he was so good in training session, he deserve to play.

“We have a portfolio of challenges, we have problems here but what’s going on in the league it’s roller coaster of a comic.”

Spurs themselves lost the Cape Derby 2-0 to rivals Cape Town City and remain rooted at the bottom of the log with just three points.
