Golden Arrows head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has opened up on his expectations for the last six matches as the fight for a top-eight finish continues.
Arrows has had a good 2026, after losing three matches out of the 10 they’ve played, which was against Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Orlando Pirates.

This is something coach Mngqithi looks at and takes positively, especially since they’re done playing the big three in their fight for a top-eight spot. Arrows is currently in eighth place with 31 points after 28 games; they have six games remaining, three at home against Siwelele, Polokwane City, and TS Galaxy, and three away against Orbit College, AmaZulu, and Chippa United.
Mngqithi believes that it will be an exciting ending to the league, as most of their games are six-pointers, and looking at his team, they have performed well in the six-pointers so far.
“Very exciting, and worse for us, because we are playing mainly the teams that are around us. We don’t have any high flyers now that we are done with Chiefs, Sundowns, and Pirates, and this year, those are the only teams we have lost to among the big three,” Mngqithi told the media.
“And we have done fairly well this year, but we have dropped the number of goals we are scoring, and that worries me, because I think we have improved a little bit defensively up until the game against Pirates.
“But I think we are going to have a very, very interesting run in the next six matches, and I think those games should help us consolidate our place in the top eight, because Siwelele is coming here, we’ve got AmaZulu in that space, we’ve got Polokwane City, TS Galaxy, all these teams that we are competing with for the top eight spot.
“And I must say, these boys have really done well in the six-pointers. The worst result we get in a six-pointer has always been a draw, but we hardly lose six-pointers, and I think amongst their peers, they’re very proficient.”
