Golden Arrows head coach Manqoba Mngqithi had high praises for the DStv Diski Challenge, Motsepe Foundation Championship and regional leagues for player development.
Mngqithi is known of not being scared to play youngsters in his teams and giving opportunities to unknown players to make name for themselves.
The MTN8 winner had high praises for the DDC league which is the reserve league of South Africa, ABC Motsepe League which is the third-tier division and the Hollywoodbets Regional Leagues.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns head coach stated that the coaches who coaches in those leagues should be given credit for their work.
“I think there’s a whole lot of positives that are coming from that league (DDC league), and I think it has just even helped our our teams, to have confidence in youngsters, because probably the fact that you did not get to see them in action, because not many people watch football there, in the dusty pitches, now that they are on TV, and people start to have confidence; that no man, if this boy can do this, in this game, maybe we should try and play him in the first team. And it has really worked for the PSL in so many ways,” Mngqithi said.
“I do, however, believe the ABC Motsepe League is also playing a very big role in our football in the country, because I see a lot of players that come from that league immediately make an impact in the in the in the Premier League, Khumalo, for one, is one of those players.
“And I can mention a long list of players in my team that played in the ABC Motsepe League. And immediately they come here. They do well. And it’s not only in our team, but I think the country is got a nice development pipeline from the DDC, the ABC Motsepe League, the SAB.
“I think there’s a whole lot of positive things and the number of coaches that are qualified who are really doing a lot of good work in these small divisions has transformed our football.
“Yes, we can never take away the credit of the DDC, but I just want us to not only think it’s the DDC that that is bringing up players, because I see a whole lot of players that I signed from the ABC Motsepe League, they are just ready to play in the PSL, and they have not had any issues.”
