Mokotjo Breaks Silence On City Exit

Former Bafana Bafana midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo has broken his silence on his surprise exit from struggling Cape Town City.

When Mokotjo joined City from Sekhukhune United at the beginning of the season it was one the moves that shocked the South African football supporters as he was seen as a pillar of that Babina Noko squad.

Meanwhile, his addition at CT City was something that they were looking forward to, as then coach Eric Tinkler hoped to benefit from his experience. But before even finishing the season, Mokotjo has parted ways with City after making 23 appearances in all competitions, as reported by this publication.

The 34-year-old has now explained that his playing style became an issue at City, and ultimately resulted in him leaving the club even though he insisted his exit happened in an amicable way.

“My football wasn’t the way that Cape Town City wanted to play anymore,” he told Andile Ncube on MetroFM.

“Then decisions has to be made and the club is also in a situation at the moment. So I felt I don’t want to feel like I am disturbing or I’m going against anything that you guys want to do.

“I think thats a big factor here.”

The former FC Twente midfielder is currently a free agent but only allowed to join a team of his choice after 30 June because he left City outside the window transfer, therefore he is not club to join any club at this stage.
