New AmaZulu FC defender reckons lifting the 2022/23 Nedbank Cup with Orlando Pirates trumps the feeling of scoring against Kaizer Chiefs as his biggest Buccaneers memory.
Mthethwa, 27, joined Usuthu alongside Bongani Zungu last week and both players were presented to the media shortly after.
Among many things discussed, Mthethwa also shared his best Pirates memories, saying it comes from lifting the Ke Yona Cup because he contributed massively with his winning goal against Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs in the semi-final.
“I think the biggest memory with Pirates is winning that Nedbank Cup,” he stated.

“I know most people think the Kaizer Chiefs goal is one of the best memories for me, but if I didn’t win that cup, it wouldn’t mean anything.
“I think that was the first cup that I won with Pirates where I contributed. Yes, I won the MTN8 before but that cup means a lot to me.
“And it’s something that I’ll always take with to say at least I gave something to Pirates.
“I know it wasn’t me only, the guys played a role in every match that we were playing that Nedbank Cup, but I wouldn’t take away that I did have a hand to put on the cup.”
Mthethwa has a chance to make his Usuthu debut when AmaZulu face Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday.
