Nabi Gives Chiefs Injury Update, New Signing Sidelined

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has confirmed that new striker Tashreeq Morris remains sidelined with injury.

Amakhosi collected a hard-fought win over Stellenbosch FC in the Nedbank Cup quarter-final thanks to two injury-time goals.

Chiefs already return to action on Wednesday when they will host Cape Town City, whom they lost to in the reverse fixture.

Ahead of the tie, Nabi confirmed that Morris, Samkelo Zwane and Happy Mashiane are out of the game, with Rushwin Dortley still to be assessed, while players like Edson Castillo, Wandile Duba and Sibongiseni Mthethwa are back in contention.

“Castillo is back with the team, probably not 100% fit because he’s been away for a couple of months,” he stated on Monday.

“Duba had his first training with the squad last week. Zwane is 100% out for the game, Morris is probably gonna need three more weeks to come back, out for this game too, Happy is also out.

“We will be assessing in the these next two days, Dortley where he is at. And Lilepo has had some discomfort and will be looking at him today.

“Ox can probably do some minutes but he’s not fully fit.”

Chiefs are currently in eighth spot on the log with 28 points from 20 games, which is just three shy of third-placed Stellenbosch.
