Nabi Gives Ntwari Update, Confirms New Chiefs Setback

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has confirmed that Fiacre Ntwari has returned to training after picking up an injury during the international break, while Nkosingiphile Ngcobo is a doubt.

Amakhosi return to playing on Wednesday when they will host Richards Bay in Polokwane, when they will be keen to return to winning ways.

In the league, Chiefs are without a win in three games and Ntwari was a doubt after picking up an injury in Rwanda’s 2-1 win over Nigeria.

However, Nabi confirmed that the goalkeeper is back in training ahead of their two clashes in Polokwane.

“Ntwari came back from the national team slightly injured, but he returned to training two days ago [Saturday],” he told reporters.

“Between the three keepers, it’s open. We need the competition between the three, it’s open and we will take the best decision based on their performance.”

Nabi also stated that Amakhosi used the international break to give game-time to some of the fringe players in the squad, while Ngcobo suffered an injury in training on Sunday.

“We had players who had been injured for some time, they came back in the Home of Legends Cup games and we had some other friendly games to give them more game-time,” he added.

“But they are not yet 100%, but we keep on working. We feel they can help in some minutes.

“The only concern that we have is Mshini, who came back very well, he got injured in training yesterday.

“We have to do a test today, but it’s uncertain [that he’ll play].”
