Nabi On Maart Performance After Penalty Miss

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has praised the character of Yusuf Maart after he kept his head high despite missing an early penalty against Golden Arrows.

Maart missed an early penalty to give his side the lead in the 11th minute after hitting the post but somewhat made up for it when netting the equaliser just four minutes after Arrows’ opener.

However, Chiefs fell behind again late in the game and weren’t able to recover, losing their 10th league fixture of the season.

With selections of the fans booing Maart, Nabi was asked about Maart’s performance after missing the early spot-kick and he found kind words for his captain.

“I think it shows the strong character that he has, coming from missing the penalty and scoring,” the Tunisian mentor stated in his post-match presser

“Also, in the game he was present and that’s the mental strength we need.”

Chiefs stayed in eighth place with 29 points from 23 games, but Chippa United in ninth with 28 points and Arrows in 10th with 27 points have two and three games in hand, respectively.

Amakhosi return to action next Saturday when they will host TS Galaxy.
