Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has explained why Njabulo Blom doesn’t start the match against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Blom, 24, returned to Amakhosi on loan from St. Louis City with Chiefs having an option to make the deal permanent.
He started the game against AmaZulu in midweek but dropped to the bench for Saturday’s clash with the reigning champions, with Nabi explaining it’s due to match fitness.
“Blom is a very good player but he is not ready 100%. Maybe 25 minutes is ok,” he said on SABC Sport.
“It’s a big risk for me to start him the game. That’s why we decided not to start with Blom but another choice.”
Instead of Blom, Nabi handed Edson his first start in his reign, while in their first league match – the 2-1 win over Marumo Gallants – Samkelo Zwane had started alongside Maart in midfield.
