Orlando Pirates assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi has spoken candidly about the challenge of playing in what he describes as “unfamiliar territory” when his side travels to the uMhlathuze Sports Complex for their upcoming clash against Richards Bay.
The two teams are scheduled to meet on Friday night at the Natal Rich Boyz’s backyard, with kick-off set for 19:30.
The Buccaneers, who are firmly in the hunt for the league title, will be determined to secure a positive result against a KwaZulu-Natal outfit equally motivated to climb into the top half of the standings and create distance between themselves and the drop zone.
Ncikazi acknowledged that the venue is not one his side is accustomed to, but stressed that their primary focus remains unchanged — to collect maximum points on the road.
He added that the team has put in thorough preparations and believes they are ready to face the Jomo Biyela-owned side.
“It’s an unfamiliar territory, I don’t think we’ve ever played a game there,” Ncikazi told Orlando Pirates TV.
“But that is not important, whatever field, as long as there’s a piece of land, we are prepared to go there and give it our best shot.
“Preparations, recovery and analysis – go to uMhlathuze get three points, that’s our responsibility and mandate. Nothing less!”
