AmaZulu have signed Celimpilo Ngema on a pre-contract, according to the iDiski Times sources.
Ngema, who is in the last months of his contract with Marumo Gallants, will join Usuthu at the end of the season.
The player was eligible to sign a pre-contract with the club of choice as he is duty bound by FIFA law as he is left with six months in his existing deal.
Usuthu beat Kaizer Chiefs in getting Ngema on board, as the Soweto giants were also looking at tapping him since he was out of the contract at the end of the season.
“Celempilo Ngema has officially signed with AmaZulu,” said the source.
“The deal is a pre-contract and he will join the club not now but at the end of the season.”
Ngema will be reunited with his former striker, Junior Dion, who joined Usuthu immediately towards the end of last month before the January transfer window was officially on Sunday.
He will also be reunited with his former coach Romain Folz, who coached the player in his brief stint at Gallants at the beginning of the season, before he later joined Usuthu in October to replace Brandon Truter.
Usuthu are intentionally rubbing this to the face of Gallants, who refused them the signing of Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo at the beginning of the season, reneging the deal, letting the player join Orlando Pirates instead.
According to the source, everything was agreed, but the change of hearts by Gallants left Usuthu management devastatingly hurt.
Ngema joined Gallants at the beginning of the 2020/21 season from another KwaZulu-Natal side Uthongathi FC.
The 25-year-old has made 78 appearances since then, including 10 league starts this season, scoring 12 goals in the process.
Sixth of those goals have been from the league and the other six have been scored in the CAF Confederation Cup, including two this term.
