Nku Responds To Rulani’s Modric Comparison

Mamelodi Sundowns winger Lesiba Nku has responded to his coach Rulani Mokwena’s comparison of him with Real Madrid star Luka Modric, saying it matters that the coach has so much faith in him.

Mokwena made the comments after Sundowns’ 1-0 victory over Royal AM as plea to the club’s fan base to be patient with Nku as he is just as special as Modric.

The 27-year-old who has also endured interruptive injuries in his first season with the DStv Premiership champions, went on to repay the coach’s faith with goals in games that followed after that match.

Nku spoke to iDiski Times writer Lethabo Kganyago recently, expressing his gratitude to Mokwena, adding that the fans are yet to see the best of him.

“I’m happy that the coach believes in me,” Nku told IDiski Times.

“And I believe in myself too to do more and to give more to the team. It’s not easy, it’s not easy at all but when you give it your best, I think the best of Lesiba is yet to come.”

Nku has two gold medals in his debut season for Masandawana after capturing the domestic league title and the inaugural CAF African Football League (AFL). The season will officially conclude after his side’s Nedbank Cup final against Orlando Pirates this weekend and he hopes to seal the campaign with a treble on his birthday.

“When you play for big teams like I said you need to score goals and perform in each and every game. The performance says it all, the goals are still coming.”
