Nomvethe Makes Shalulile Admission

PSL’s all-time top goal record holder Siyabonga Nomvethe has congratulated Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile for edging closer to his PSL career goal tally saying it takes hard work to get this far.

After scoring in the opening minute of Sundowns’ 4-1 win over TS Galaxy last Saturday, the Namibian international is now just three goals away from reaching Nomvethe’s 129 goals in the PSL era.

The former Bafana international told iDiski Times writer Lethabo Kganyago in edition 192 that he believes Shalulile will even surpass the tally because of his age and hunger.

“It’s important and nice to see people challenging something, waking up and working hard to attain it,” Bhele told iDiski Times.

“It has happened that he has reached those goals, and the season is still long; he is still young. I mean, four goals is nothing, so he will be the new record holder.

The former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates striker added that it’s always good when strikers do what they are hired to do otherwise they’d labelled failures.

“Well done to him, and it means he worked very hard to get to that number, and it’s not easy,” added Nomvethe.

“It also shows that he is clinical up front, and he also wants to set a record himself. A striker should score goals and he could have been called a failure if he didn’t score”.
