SuperSport United striker Samir Nurkovic says as much as his case against Royal AM is still on-going he is always focused on doing his job on the pitch because he has help.
The Serbian took the KwaZulu-Natal-based outfit to FIFA and the Court of Arbitration for Sport for unlawfully terminating his contract in 2022 just after three months of him signing for the club.
The player won his case and is owed approximately R15 million (plus interest) by the club, with the consequences seeing the side banned from signing new players by FIFA for the last three successive transfer windows. In addition, Thwihli-Thwahla haven’t been able to honour fixtures in 2025 owing to issues with the Tax man.
Nurkovic spoke to reporters ahead of the Tshwane Derby against Mamelodi Sundowns in midweek and when asked how he is able to carry on with the case still hanging, the former TS Galaxy forward said that he is able to focus on work because there are people handling the case.
“Certain things in a professional football, professional career is beyond control of the player,” said Nurkovic.
“It’s beyond player control. This kind of stuff, there is people you know to deal with.
“You as a professional, you need to just keep your mind on one main thing that’s improving yourself each and every day, at training and game. Just try to be the best, just do the best of your possibilities and the results will come.
“So the things that are irrelevant, they’re not important on the field. So you need to just keep working hard, be consistent like I’m saying and the results will come.”
