ODG Responds To Top 8 Talk After Stellies Upset

Magesi FC head coach Owen Da Gama has ruled out top eight desires despite their steady rise that has seen them five wins on the trot in the Betway Premiership.

Dikwena Tṧa Meetse pulled off a shock 1-0 win over Stellenbosch FC to move to 11th place on the table with 26 points, five points clear of relegation and just three points away from the top eight.

Despite yet another win, ‘ODG’ warned his charges that they must not too much ahead and stay grounded because of how tight the log is still looking and also because they are still going to meet the sides in the top five.

“We’re not even thinking of the top eight to be honest with you,” said Da Gama.

“We just want to get out there, you know two wins for a team at the bottom or one win and a draw, and we’re back there. So, we’re just thinking of getting out there which is very important.

“We still got big games to play. We’ve got [Mamelodi] Sundowns away, [Orlando] Pirates away. We’ve got to play the top five teams.

“[We won against Pirates this season] that was in the Cup but this is a different Pirates. I think we just take it one game at a time, for us that is the only thing we can do now, one game at a time. Fight for our lives for that one game and then we look at the next one.

“We’re not looking ahead of anything else.”
