Chippa United have announced the decision to “redeploy” Kurt Lentjies to the DStv Diski Challenge team, with Siyabulela Gwambi taking over as interim coach, as previously reported by iDiski Times.
The Chilli Boys announced the news on Monday after they have fallen to 14th on the DStv Premiership log following a run of just one win in their last 14 DStv Premiership games.
Lentjies had only replaced Morgan Mammila, who came in to replace Daine Klate, in February but has now seen a similar fate to the former two.
“Chippa United Football Club would like to announce that Kurt Lentjies has been redeployed to head up our DSTV Diski Challenge Team,” the statement read.
“Siyabulela Gwambi has been appointed interim coach for remainder of the season.
“Gwambi has been a loyal servant of the club having acquired his CAF License A coaching credentials Club Chairman, Mr. Siviwe Mpengesi has called upon all Chilli Boys faithfuls to rally behind the Gqeberha born native and his charges as they look for positive results.”
Lentjies was only in charge of five games since replacing Mammila on the sidelines, winning the Nedbank Cup clash against Mpheni Home Defenders, but only picking up two draws from four DStv Premiership games.
Chippa next face 15th-placed Marumo Gallants, who sit only two points behind them, on Wednesday, in a must-win clash for both sides in the relegation race.
