Durban City have released an official statement confirming the departure of head coach Sinethemba Badela.
The 36-year-old’s exit comes shortly after he guided the KwaZulu-Natal-based side into the next round of the Nedbank Cup, where they eliminated Premiership outfit Chippa United via a penalty shootout following a tightly contested encounter.
Badela was appointed head coach in December, during the Africa Cup of Nations which was being held in Morocco at the time.
His arrival gave him a short but valuable window to assess the squad and prepare the team for the second half of the season.
Despite the brief nature of his tenure, Badela oversaw three competitive matches, recording two victories and one defeat.
“Thank you, Coach Badela. Durban City FC confirms that the Club has parted ways with Head Coach Sinethemba Badela by mutual agreement,” the club said via a statement.
“We appreciate his service and wish him every success moving forward.”
Badela’s departure marks his second swift exit this season, following a tenure at Chippa United that lasted just two games before the club opted for a change.
