Marumo Gallants have appointed Peter Koutroulis as the club’s new Football Manager.
Koutroulis replaces Alexandre Lafitte, who was placed on suspension in the beginning of March on what the club alleged was breach of contract, coupled with their run of poor results, as they had lost seven games consecutively across all competitions.
Lafitte, who won the league in Ivory Coast with Stade Abidjan and leading them to the CAF Champions League group stages, had a positive start at Gallants, qualifying for the Carling Knockout Cup final where they lost to Orlando Pirates.
However, things went downhill from there until he was ultimately suspended, with Gallants then linked with Moroccan coach Jamil Benouahi, but he is yet to receive his work permit.
But on Tuesday, they announced Koutroulis as the club’s new “Football Manager”, briefly stating:
“Marumo Gallants FC appoints Football Manager Peter Koutroulis. Welcome to the Gallants Family.”
Gallants face Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday evening, but Trevor Methane and Julien Outrebon were listed as co-coaches on the team sheet.
Koutroulis last worked in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with Casric Stars, and helped Magesi FC gain promotion to the top flight in 2023/24.
