Stellenbosch Football Club confirmed the exit of their long serving defender Rafiq De Goede.
The Cape Town-born defender gained promotion with the club from National First Division and he never looked back since.
He helped the team to qualify for MTN8 last season for the first time in club’s history and also captained the side several times.
However, he will now leave the Winelands-based side, the club confirmed on Thursday.
“The club can confirm that after consultation with Rafiq De Goede and his representatives we have accepted a transfer offer from a PSL Club,” they said via a statement.
“Rafiq was one of the longest serving players at the club and has always been exemplary on and off of the field. We sincerely thank Rafiq.”
The 29-year-old is expected to join Maritzburg United, as reported by this website last week, but the Team of Choice are yet to confirm the news.
