Orbit College coach Pogiso Makhoye has revealed that Monnapule Saleng told he is excited about returning ‘home’.
Saleng, 27, has not featured in any official game since December 2023 after a fallout at Orlando Pirates kept him sidelined.
But the Buccaneers have now loaned him to newly-promoted Orbit for the 2025/26 season, with Saleng returning to where his career started.
“He’s excited, because he wants to also come. We cannot bring a player who doesn’t want to be here, who is not going to help us.
He will also link up with Makhoye who sees him as his “son” and says the winger is excited about the new challenge.
“I talk to him every day, he’s my son,” he told Thabiso Mosia on Radio 2000.
“He’s excited to come back home, to come and help the team.”
The Orbit coach also insisted Saleng will be a perfect fit for his team, as he is able to fill four different positions.
“Even though it’s a bigger club, the football is the same. He knows the team, he knows me and what I want. I know him, what he can offer,” Makhoye added.
“I’m the one who developed him, I’m the one who made sure he can play in all the four positions – he can play as a 10, right wing, left wing, even as a striker.
“Having him and with the type of football that we play, he fits like a glove. He knows the team, he’s been here. Those who are coming from the outside will learn from him.
“We know he’s bringing goals, because I know he likes to score goals. Even in his last season here, in the ABC Motsepe he scored 27 goals, so I’m happy.”
