Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has responded to concerns surrounding captain Nkosinathi Sibisi and his recent injury scares.
The French-Moroccan mentor addressed the issue during a press conference held at Nedbank’s headquarters in Sandton on Thursday.
The Buccaneers are set to take on Casric Stars in the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals on Saturday, 21 February, at Orlando Amstel Arena.
Ouaddou was asked about Sibisi after the defender appeared to struggle with knocks in recent matches and was stretchered off at one stage.
However, the coach confirmed that, according to the club’s medical team, the skipper is fit and, further, that’s why he was part of the squad that faced Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday.
“As long as our medical department that is looking after the players gives us the green lights and he’s part of the team, I think he’s fine,” said Ouaddou.
“You have seen him, he played [against Mamelodi Sundowns], of course he’s fit. If we had any problem with injuries, I’m sure our medical department would tell us.
“But for the moment, he’s fit, he’s ready to compete.”
